About Us

At The Village Learning Collective, we believe education is most meaningful when it is both intentional, life-giving and done in a supportive community.

Our program is designed to support homeschool families by offering a consistent, thoughtfully structured day where children can engage deeply in learning beyond the home. Through a blend of academic enrichment, hands-on exploration, and creative expression, we create an environment where curiosity is sparked, ideas are connected, and learning feels both purposeful and enjoyable.

While our approach includes subjects such as history, science, art, geography, crafts and logic/critical thinking games, our deeper aim is the formation of the whole child. We value the quiet cultivation of character—encouraging responsibility, attentiveness, perseverance, and respect within a nurturing and well-ordered setting.

Each week, learners step into a rhythm that invites both growth and belonging. They are challenged to think, to create, and to engage with the world around them, while also experiencing the stability and care that helps them flourish.

The Village exists to come alongside families—not to replace the work happening at home, but to strengthen it—offering a space where children can grow in confidence, capability, and a lasting love of learning.

Genessa Raynor is the Founder and Executive Director of The Village Learning Collective, a program created to support and enrich the homeschool experience through thoughtful, structured learning and meaningful community.

After graduating from Grossmont College, she spent time living and working in Baja Sur, Mexico, where she sold properties in a sustainable village along the Sea of Cortez. In 2011, shortly after marrying and welcoming their first child, she and her husband relocated from San Diego to Northern California. It was there that her love for home education—and world schooling—truly began.

Over the past decade, she has been deeply rooted in the homeschool journey, educating her three children, who are now 9, 12 and 15, in a classical yet eclectic way. Whether learning on the road during a six-week U.S. road trip, living abroad in Costa Rica, spending two weeks in Japan, or returning for extended time in Baja—a place especially close to her heart—she embraces the belief that “it all counts.”

What began as a personal calling has grown into a broader commitment to serving and supporting other families along the same path.

Her leadership within the homeschool community began in 2015 as a Parent Liaison for a church-based co-op, where she spent four years cultivating connection and supporting families. In 2016 she and her children joined a Classical Conversations community where she tutored, subbed and currently supports her two older children through the Challenge program. Building on that foundation, she went on to launch and direct a homeschool co-op from the ground up, now entering its third successful year. Through this work, she has developed a deep understanding of what families need—not just academically, but relationally and practically.

In addition to her work in education, she built a successful network marketing business within the wellness industry, gaining valuable experience in leadership, organization, and community building.

The Village Learning Collective is the natural extension of her passion: a thoughtfully designed space where children can grow in confidence, character, and a love of learning, and where families feel supported, understood, and connected. She brings both experience and heart to her work, with a desire to create something that is not only effective, but deeply life-giving for the families it serves.
